After two months of rehabilitation from Newton Animal Control, Remo fully recovered and was gifted to state police, where he was adopted by Trooper Ryan Dichiara, state police said.

"Remo has been a beloved part of our team ever since," state police said. "Not only has Remo boosted morale among our troopers, but he’s also helped calm and connect with others who needed it most. When a distressed woman was in the station, meeting Remo changed her demeanor. He’s also comforted numerous children who come to the station with their parents during difficult times."

Remo recently visited SCARC, a center for those with developmental disabilities in Sussex County after five of their clients come to Sussex Station to provide custodial services, bonding with Remo and his signature tail wag.

"In only six short months Remo has made a difference in many lives," state police said. "Remo is truly one of us, serving our community and station with a heart full of love."
